Right before the holidays, when I’m rushing around and scrambling to get things tidied up before family arrives, I run a tally of what I need at the grocery store. Included on it was a box of tissues for the spare bathroom. Something I don’t normally stock but knew having this particular item would make my dad happy. When I say I don’t keep this around the house, I seriously don’t. I just assume use toilet paper.
Being the green girl that I am, I did not only find some cool, eco-friendly grocery products to pick up that included 25% less plastic than their previous counter parts, but I found this cute little box of Marcal’s small steps tissue.
“A friend to trees since 1950.
Works great & budget friendly – tissues made from 100% premium recycled paper, never trees . . .with the strength, absorbency, softness, and value.”
— Plopped it into the basket and checked out.
The next morning, sure enough, I was sitting here all proud of myself, waiting to hear a pleasant chirp about how I picked up a box of tissue and what I get in response was more of a reaction: “What the . . . what is this stuff??!!! Did you have to buy sand paper?!” I exclaimed, “You can’t be serious!” I thought he was being a baby and making fun of me. . . Until I touched the tissue.
Lesson learned: When it comes to your nose, there is no alternate green substitution to the soft, and gentle Kleenex tissue.
Out to the store he goes and comes back with Kleenex. At least the box is made from 100% recycled paper.
